Over the past few weeks, there have been allegations against Cher that she hired people to kidnap her son Elijah Blue Allman. More recently, the pop star finally addressed the issue and broke her silence about the rumor.

The pop legend spoke in an interview with People Magazine about the claims made last year by Allman's estranged wife, Marieangela King, amid their divorce proceedings.

King had alleged that Cher plotted to kidnap her own son from a hotel in New York City. Now, the "Believe" hitmaker is setting the record straight, saying, "that rumor is not true."

Although the mega pop superstar, who is set to release a Christmas album later this month, refused to talk further details about the allegations, she opened up about her son's substance abuse.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the singer said of witnessing her son's problems with substance abuse: "I'm not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren't."

She further noted that she's a mother and it's her job to help her children all the time as she would do anything for her kids.

Cher Gets Accused of Plotting to Kidnap Her Son Elijah Blue Allman

In previous divorce documents filed by Marieangela King, she alleged that Cher hired four people to kidnap Allman from their hotel room in New York City in November of last year.

At the time, the couple was celebrating their anniversary as they wanted to fix their relationship even though King had already filed for divorce in 2021. The woman said one of the four men who were allegedly hired confirmed to her that it was Cher who hired them to do it.

In early reports, sources claimed that the reason why she allegedly hired people to kidnap her son was because she was desperate to help him with his substance abuse.

She also thought that King was a bad influence on him before.

Elijah Blue Allman is Cher's son of Greg Allman, popularly known as being one of the members of the group The Allman Brothers. They got married in 1975 but filed for divorce four years later.
