Cher hired men to kidnap her son Elijah Blue Allman out of her love and desperation to save him.
The accusation emerged after, on December 5, 2022, documents were obtained by news outlets amid the divorce proceedings of Allman and his estranged wife, Marie King. The latter filed for divorce in 2021.
In the previously filed documents by King, she alleged that Cher hired four men to remove Allman from their New York hotel room on November 30, 2022 - their wedding anniversary - in the hopes of trying to fix the duo's relationship. The 77-year-old was also concerned for her son's well-being at that time due to his substance abuse issues.
Why Did Cher Hire Four Men To Kidnap Son?
A source spoke to Life & Style (via OK! Magazine) to explain that Cher did it to save her son as she initially thought King was a bad influence on him.
"Cher thought Elijah's wife was a bad influence who was steering Elijah down a dangerous path," the source said. "She was desperate to help her son, so she did what she had to do."
The "Just Like Jesse James" singer reportedly would not call it "kidnapping" as it sounds exaggerated when she only wanted to get him out of the concerning status.
The source added that Cher did her best to take care of him even when he was a difficult kid who hated her at times.

What The Documents Revealed
In the documents King filed, she revealed that they spent 12 days in New York from November 18 to 30, 2022, in an attempt to work on their marriage. She alleged that one of the four men confirmed to her that Cher hired them.
King added in the documents that her mother-in-law told her to leave her home with Allman when he was admitted to a facility for medical care.
Cher shares son Allman with Greg Allman, the late member of The Allman Brothers Band who died in 2017. The ex-couple wed in 1975 and filed for divorce in 1979.
In a 2014 interview with the Daily Mail, Allman said he knows Cher always tried in their mother-son relationship. While he believes everything will be mended, he said it would take some time.
Cher recently appeared in headlines, as well, after reconciling her romance with Alexander "AE" Edwards.
