On Friday, November 3, Louder Than War reported that the original bassist - who had been part of the band since its formation in 1983 - passed away at the age of 59, though some outlets said he was 61 at the time of his death.

"It was always great to bump into him around town as he was a wonderful soul and a beautiful person and will be much missed," part of the report read.

What Was Pete Garner's Cause of Death?

The media outlet did not disclose Pete Garner's cause of death, but The Sun said he battled cancer before his passing.

His former bandmate and Stones Roses frontman Ian Brown paid tribute to Garner as John Robb expressed how much they will miss their "amigo."

"Yeah very sad," Brown replied. "We were young punk rockers when we met in 77. The nite before Petes maths and geography O levels we went to see the Clash. Always made me chuckle that he did that and of course, he made the right decision! X"

Brown had been friends with Garner since meeting in a school, with Stones Roses guitarist John Squire joining the circle of pals.

Aside from the frontman, other bands, musicians and fans took to X to share heartfelt tributes to the bassist.

One said, "RIP Pete Garner. One of the coolest and nicest people you could ever meet. Music sailed through his soul. Thoughts with his family and all his many friends."

"RIP Pete Garner a good man and musician with the Stone Roses," another wrote, while one added, "P Pete Garner. Worked with and knew Pete. What a lovely guy. Remember dancing with him at the Siouxsie gig. Thoughts sent to his loved ones x."
