Blake Shelton joked about Gwen Stefani not wanting to have more family time after leaving "The Voice."

After over a decade of serving as a "The Voice" judge, Shelton announced his departure from the show, where he also met his now-wife. He started his coaching journey in 2011 and initially worked alongside Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and CeeLo Green.

Meanwhile, Stefani joined the panel in 2014.

Blake Shelton Jokes About Gwen Stefani's "The Voice" Return

Shelton appeared in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday, November 8, to quip about his wife's return to "The Voice" when he wanted more time with her.

"I think I'd actually put out there to the press too because everybody wants to know, 'Why are you quitting? Why are you walking away from the show?' And it's like, 'Well, for the family, for more family time,'" he said during his "Jimmy Kimmel Live" appearance. "And then the very next announcement is, 'Gwen's coming back!'"

The 47-year-old "Nobody But You" crooner joked about Stefani probably not wanting too much family time as "money talks in this industry."

After playfully sharing his thoughts, Shelton seriously opened up about their choice not to get involved in each other's decision-making when it comes to their careers.

Although his wife went back to her seat, the pair has reportedly prioritized their family even more.

Shelton officially announced his exit in October 2022, looking back at his 12 years of chair turns on the show.

"I want to thank everyone at 'The Voice' from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of hard work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week," he went on.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's Relationship

Shelton and Stefani were still married to other people when they met on "The Voice." A few months after their respective splits, reports that they began dating emerged.

"They've been supporting each other through a difficult time and they're really happy together," a source said at that time. "Everyone is thrilled because they're both incredibly nice people."

Shelton popped the question in October 2020 and officially wed Stefani on July 3, 2021.
