In a recent Instagram post, Paris Hilton claimed that she and her longtime friend Britney Spears "created the selfie." She also posted some rare pictures of them together.

The 42-year-old TV personality shared three close-up photos of them being the fashionable friends they were back from 2006.

She recently attended the Las Vegas Grand Prix with other celebs. The single mother wrote to her 25.5 million followers in the caption that 17 years ago, she and Britney Spears created the selfie - something people do these days as much as they eat.

The socialite was wearing a dark gray tank top in the first photo, while the 41-year-old hitmaker Baby One More Time was wearing a white satin blouse.

The two celebrities accessorized their heads with black headbands with rabbit ears for a playful photo, flashing bright smiles.

Paris and Britney took off their stylish headbands and positioned themselves side by side for a selfie.

Finally, the two stopped for a second picture, puckering their lips in the direction of Hilton's camera.

Next year, Paris Hilton will release a new album that Sia executive produced.

The singer and TV personality revealed that she is presently working on the new album and that she will release a new song later this week called "Lighter," which she co-wrote with Steve Aoki.

The album will be her follow-up to the 2006 release of "Paris," her debut album.

Most recently, Spears discussed their strong relationship in her recently published memoir, "The Woman In Me," which was published in October of last year.

The "Toxic" songstress had written that the businesswoman was "kindest" to her at the time when she needed it the most.

She added that Paris Hilton was constantly being dismissed as a party girl, but I found her elegant - but she helped Britney so much when she was a new mom and was struggling with life.

While talking to People shortly before the book hit shelves, Paris revealed that she was 'proud' of the Princess of Pop 'for telling her story.' She said that it can really be healing to do that.
