Lainey Wilson is reportedly hoping for an opportunity to do a duet with her childhood idol, Miley Cyrus.

Still, according to the National Enquirer, the "Can't Be Tamed" singer would instead not go back to her "Hannah Montana" days with the self-described fan.

Before she became a star in Nashville, Lainey, 31, from Louisiana, was making her living by impersonating Miley's character from the hit Disney Channel show.

When she was still young and living in the country of Louisiana, Lainey discovered that performing as a pop singer would bring much-needed cash to her family.

With her lively show at birthday parties, fairs, and festivals around the area, Lainey could make up to $400 per gig.

An anonymous source told the National Enquirer that money played its part in Lainey's journey to success.

In their words, it "kept her family afloat" and helped to refine her performing ability.

As a result, Miley Cyrus unintentionally propelled Lainey towards achieving all she has now.

Despite Lainey's admiration for Miley, news sources state that the 31-year-old has yet to respond to the up-and-coming country star's request to collaborate on a project.

Lainey looks upon the Flowers vocalist as a hero, leading her to reach out in hopes of forming some partnership.

It's been speculated that Miley Cyrus' alleged cold shoulder was due to a determination to distance herself from her former character.

After the finale of "Hannah Montana" aired in 2011, Dolly Parton recalled Miley saying, "I need to kill off Hannah Montana so people can see me for who I am!" indicating a solid motivation to leave her past persona behind.

It has been reported that Miley appreciates the singing style of Lainey, dispelling rumors that any rejection of a Hannah Montana collaboration was personal.

A source revealed that even though Miley is focused on leaving her "Hannah Montana" days behind, she is more than willing to support a fellow female artist.

"Miley likes Lainey's music and wants to do what she can to help out," they said.

Used To Be Young

Though Miley fondly remembers her time on the Disney Channel, a source told the outlet that she does not want to return to the past.

Her recent video for the song "Used to be Young" - donning a Mickey Mouse t-shirt - alludes to this idea.

In addition, Lainey's desire also comes from an era that Miley isn't eager to revisit.

Reflecting on her prior behavior, Miley candidly revealed to British Vogue in May that she had been shouldering a heavy burden of guilt and shame for an extended period. Yet, it is best to exercise caution when considering this revelation.

Still, it's best to take the National Enquirer's report with a grain of salt.
