• Wilco Drops Free, New Album 'Star Wars' by Surprise [LISTEN HERE]

    Wilco went more than four years without a releasing a new studio album, and then promptly dropped 'Star Wars' on Thursday, creating a sensation for alt-rock fans similar to what Drake did with 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late' for hip-hop fans.     The band Queen has announced an encompassing vinyl collection that will feature all of the band's studio albums, including classics 'A Night At The Opera,' 'Sheer Heart Attack' and 'News Of The World.' If you're the kind of collector who prefers your vinyl in more colorful iterations, then you're in luck: Each of the 18 discs will come pressed in a different color.

  • BTS Tour NYC Show Cut Short Due to Twitter Threats toward Rap Monster

    K-Pop group BTS (the Bangtan Boys) was forced to cut its New York City debut short as a result of terroristic threats made toward member Kim "Rap Monster" Nanjoon via Twitter. The fan meet-and-greet that was to follow that show at the Best Buy Theater near Times Square was also cancelled as a result. We might normally suggest that fans were "up in arms" over the development, but unfortunately that's exactly what led to this mess: two tweets from containing photos of individuals holding firearms while using the hashtag "#TRBinNYC."

    Travi$ Scott finally gives a release date for 'Rodeo,' his much anticipated debut album. Though a few weeks ago, Trav promised the album would drop before August, we're going to have to wait just a little longer. During a surprise show in NYC last night, Scott told the crowd they can expect 'Rodeo' on September 4.

  • Robert Plant To Headline 2-Night 2015 Lockn’ Festival

    Robert Plant is taking the Sensational Space Shifters along for a unique ride to headline this year's Lockn' Festival for two particularly unusual headliners. According to a press release, Plant is scheduled to perform on September 12 and 13 which will bring a special liberation of "two completely different sets" over the span of two nights. "Plant has never done anything like this in his career," notes the announcement, "and it will undoubtedly make for some unique and historical moments."

  • 'Heaven Adores You' Clip Details Elliott Smith's Quick Rise to Fame [WATCH]

    The Nikolas Rossi-directed film, 'Heaven Adores You,' details the life of the deceased singer songwriter, Elliott Smith. The project is due out on DVD, Blue-ray and digital formats on July 17. Rolling Stone gives anxious fans an inside look at an informational clip that strings together some of over 30 interviews with Smith's closest friends, family members and collaborators.

  • Birdman Sues TIDAL for $50 Million Over Lil Wayne's 'Free Weezy Album'

    Though Birdman was just named in an indictment that alleges he was involved in a plot to kill Lil Wayne, he's showing no attempt to make amends with his former "son," who's still fighting to free himself from Cash Money Records. If that lawsuit wasn't enough, Birdman has brought forth another. He is suing Jay Z's TIDAL for recently releasing Lil Wayne's 'Free Weezy Album' -- to the tune of $50 million.

    A humorous petition has suggested that Outkast's Andre 3000 and Big Boi be carved into Georgia's historic Stone Mountain, a monument near Atlanta that's drawn controversy for its homage to the Confederacy in the form of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson in Mt. Rushmore-style. Our official stance at Music Times is that the ATLiens riding in a Cadillac on the side of the mountain wouldn't hurt. And, even if it does border on the absurd, it wouldn't be the worst statue of a musician to be erected. Alas, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain and Michael Jackson (especially Michael Jackson) have been subjected to attempted memorials that fall way short of tastefulness.
