YouTube Reaches Agreement with Indie Labels For New Streaming Service [WATCH]
YouTube has officially launched its long-awaited music streaming service, which has been rumored for more than a year now. They also ended their months-long dispute and signed a licensing deal with independent record companies. The deal was closed with Merlin, an organization that represents thousands of small labels worldwide, which cleared them to set up their beta version of the service and compete in the marketplace with the likes of Spotify and Pandora. The company had already reached agreements with the three major labels (Sony, Universal, and Warner), the New York Times reports. The specifics of the deal were not disclosed. -
Taylor Swift "Shake it Off" Reigns Supreme on Hot 100 Again as Ariana Grande & The Weeknd "Love Me Harder" Enters Top 10
Taylor Swift may be able to shake off a lot of things: players, haters, heartbreakers, fakers... and now she can add off every other mainstream artist. For the fourth week total and the second in a row, Swift's first single from 1989, the infectious "Shake It Off" leads the Billboard Hot 100 as the number one song in America. While Swift dances atop the charts again, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd are coming for her, as their collaborative My Everything single "Love Me Harder" vaults into the top 10. -
Ne-Yo's Voice Gives Woman Seizures, Forcing Her to Undergo Operation
We all have songs or particular artists who get on our nerves whenever they come on the radio, but nobody can really claim that hearing a particular artist is actually life-threatening, can they? Actually, someone can: Zoe Fennessy of Retford, United Kingdom, who suffers from epileptic seizures whenever she hears a song by R&B singer Ne-Yo. Because of this, she had to undergo an operation.Fennessy has been suffering from seizures since 2006, and was officially diagnosed with epilepsy in 2008, but in 2011 she suffered from her first "musicogenic seizure" after hearing Pitbull's song "Give Me Everything," which features Ne-Yo."It took me a while to realize that they were being triggered by his songs," Fennessy told "SWNS," "and I think it wasn't until I had heard it for about the 15th time that it finally twigged what was going on." -
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Oasis's Liam Gallagher Among Guest Performers at The Who Tribute Concert [WATCH]
Last night, Nov. 11, rock legends The Who held their annual Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concert in London, featuring guest performances by Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder and former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, among many others. According to "Rolling Stone," the evening was hosted by The Who frontman Roger Daltrey, though guitarist and lead songwriter Pete Townshend reportedly stayed home, with Daltrey saying the legendary guitarist would “rather do anything than hear his songs played back to him.”Liam Gallagher gave his first public performance since the break-up of his band Beady Eye three weeks ago, singing The Who’s 1965 hit “My Generation,” which he had frequently performed in concert with Oasis. Aretha Franklin Threatens To Sue Author Of Unauthorized Biography 'Respect' Over Statements About Her Sexual Promiscuity
Aretha Franklin is threatening to sue her former ghostwriter David Ritz over his new unauthorized biography about her called Respect. The book makes claims that she was sexually promiscuous while working the 1950s gospel circuit as a young teen. According to sources for Page Six, Franklin is "enormously upset by the book," which was just released by Little, Brown and Company. -

Gang of Four Announce New Album 'What Happens Next,' Share New Song 'Broken Talk' Featuring Alison Mosshart [LISTEN]
British post-punk legends Gang of Four have announced a new album titled "What Happens Next" — check out the cover above — set for release Feb. 24 through Metropolis Records, "Consequence of Sound" reports. The album will be the band's eighth overall, their first since 2011's "Content" and their first since the departure of lead singer and founding member Jon King, who has been replaced by John Sterry. This leaves guitarist Andy Gill as the sole original member left in the band.Along with a new line-up, "What Happens Next" will also feature a number of guest musicians, including several appearances from Kills and Dead Weather vocalist Alison Mosshart, who takes the lead on the album's first single "Broken Talk." Ty Segall Band to Release 'Live in San Francisco' Album in January, Share Live Track [LISTEN]
Garage rock wizard Ty Segall has announced the release of a new live album called "Live in San Francisco (that's the cover up above)." The album is set for release Jan. 26 through Castle Face Records and was recorded with the Ty Segall Band, whom Segall recorded with for his 2012 fuzz-rock masterpiece "Slaughterhouse." Segall records most of his other albums by himself.According to "Pitchfork," the album is the latest in Castle Face's "Live in San Francisco" series, all of which are engineered by labelhead John Dwyer, who is also the singer and guitarist of psychedelic garage band Thee Oh Sees. The Ty Segall Band's "Live in San Francisco" was recorded at the Rickshaw Stop venue. -
Prince Took His First Selfie Today, Without a Cellphone
Prince has officially decided to try out the latest 2014 trend, albeit with a 2008 MySpace twist. Today, Prince decided to try his hand at taking selfies and used his SLR camera, not a cellphone, as has been in vogue lately. An ode to the days of MySpace bathroom mirror pictures, Prince took a mirror selfie but upped the ante with the nice camera and spotlighting on him, according to Business Insider.His publicist released a statement to the Huffington Post about the selfie: "Prince used an old-school camera because he doesn't own a cellphone. He jokingly says, 'We ban their usage anywhere around Us because We're allergic 2 lithium and Everybodyelsies."
