Glasgow native, Ross Birchard, 28, better known as Hudson Mohawke, went on BBC Radio One as part of its 25 years of Warp Records celebration. The Kanye West collaborator talked to Radio One DJ Benji B about his upcoming album — which is done — his "Chimes" remix and how that came together and where the name Hudson Mohawke came from. In addition to the radio appearance, he has also separately released a free remix of Four Tet's "Parallel Jalebi" as part of the LuckyMe 14/15 Advent Calendar. First previewed more than a year ago, HudMo flips the original spacey and abstract original into a somber, energetic track, according to Fact. Listen and download the remix below. -
Rich Homie Quan Shares 'Ain't Trippin'' Featuring Young Thug, 'Blah Blah Blah' Remix [LISTEN]
Fresh off the success of their recent Rich Gang mixtape, Atlanta rappers Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug have shared a new collaborative track titled "Ain't Trippin'," which you can check out below. It is not clear if this is a leftover from their Rich Gang sessions, though it could also be a new cut, since their co-conspirator Birdman does not make an appearance. Though the track definitely has a typical hip-hop beat — typical for 2014, anyway — there seems to be more singing than rapping going on.You can check out Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug's "Ain't Trippin'" here:Quan and Thug's Rich Gang mixtape "Tha Tour: Part 1" was released in September and spawned six singles: "Tell Em (Lies)," "Imma Ride," "Freestyle," "Soldier," "Milk Marie" and "Flava." "Tha Tour: Part 1" was Quan and Thug's most-recent, full-length release, and neither have yet to release a studio album. Thug claims his debut album will be titled "Tha Carter VI," since Lil Wayne plans on "Tha Carter V" on being his last, while Quan's upcoming album has yet to be given a title."You can expect Drake on my album. You can expect Boosie on my album," Quan told "Hot New Hip-Hop." "You can expect Thug on there. You can expect Wayne ... I gotta get Nicki on there.""That's why I'm still waiting," he continued, "That's why you ain't heard it yet. I'm still working on it. I gotta get Big Sean on there. A lot of these my idols. People I looked up to coming into the game."In other Rich Homie Quan news, the 25-year-old rapper also shared a remix of his track "Blah Blah Blah" yesterday, featuring new verses from Ty Dolla $ign, Fabolous and Dej Loaf. You can check out that track here: -
'Frozen's' 'Let It Go' Synced to Christmas Lights: Disney Hit Performance Would Make Clark Griswold Proud [WATCH]
For years, Chevy Chase's Clark Griswold was the champion of holiday exterior illumination when he wrapped his home in thousands of Christmas lights for "Christmas Vacation." Since the 1980s, though, we have had a few technological advances in the area of Christmas lights. A few years ago, Miller Brewing Co. synced some lights to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizards of Winter" and people have been beefing up their displays ever since. The most recent home display features a marvelous performance of "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen."The video comes from listentoourlights.com, and it is one of the better light performances around. The centerpiece is the front yard that contains two large trees and some smaller decorations. Huge snowflakes on the house illustrate a "storm" backdrop as they "fall" to the ground. The cactus in the window kind of threw me off, though.Either way, it is a terrific display for fans of the movie or those fond of Christmas lights. Check it out below.Frozen's soundtrack was recently named the best-selling album on the "Billboard" 200 chart for 2014. It beat out releases by Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean. The effort spent 13 weeks at the No. 1 spot, making it Disney's longest, best-selling soundtrack ahead of "The Lion King."This year has not been great for record sales, but Frozen was the first album to hit the platinum mark for 2014. Swift's "1989," Ariana Grande's "My Everything" and Aldean's "Old Boots, New Dirt" also surpassed 1 million sales. Smith's "In the Lonely Hour" is expected to join the club before year's end. -
Run the Jewels to Start Work on Third Album in January, Collaborate Again with Zack de la Rocha
One of the most welcome surprises on "Run the Jewels 2" was the guest appearance of former Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha on the track "Close Your Eyes (And Count to F--k)," but according to RTJ producer El-P, that was not the first time he and de la Rocha had collaborated, and it apparently will not be the last, either. During an in-store event at Rough Trade East in London, according to "NME," El-P revealed that he and de la Rocha worked on music together as far back as 1999 and have plans in the near future to continue that work."In 1999 I spent a month in my apartment in Brooklyn with Zack de la Rocha just before he split Rage Against the Machine, working on music that will never see the light of day," El-P said. "I can't speak about his future but I will say that I'm going to L.A. to spend another month with him in January."Though it was widely assumed that the break-up of Rage Against the Machine in 2000 would signal the start of de la Rocha's solo career in hip-hop, he has yet to release a solo album, or a full-length album of any sort since Rage Against the Machine's final LP "Renegades." -

Kraftwerk Academic Conference Taking Place at Aston University during 2015; Alas, The Band Isn't Scheduled to Appear
You know you've made it as a cultural phenomenon when entire weekend conferences are scheduled...not to hear your music necessarily but to discuss your work in a wider academic sense. This is the honor that has befallen Kraftwerk as Aston University in Birmingham (notably in the UK and not in the band's homeland of Germany) has organized the first Industrial Volksmusik for the Twenty-First Century, a two-day event going down in late January. -
J. Cole Performs Ferguson Protest Song 'Be Free' on 'Late Show with David Letterman'
J. Cole released his third studio album, "2014 Forest Hills Drive," Tuesday, Dec. 9, and went on the "Late Show with David Letterman" to perform "Be Free," which is not on the album. Cole's commentary on Ferguson and tribute to Michael Brown, he used the stage to make his voice heard on the current issues facing the African-American community. His performance captured the sentimentality of "Be Free," as Cole delivered each word with poise and emotion. A simple performance with little fanfare, Cole stood on stage moving little but still showed his time-tested charisma, while a keyboardist played the simple and moving instrumental in the background, reported "Complex." He even wrote a new verse for the occasion and elicited a positive reaction from Letterman, who invited him back anytime."Be Free" has been the No. 1 trending song, according to "Billboard," since it came out. Cole has been one of the few artists who have been using his status to protest the grand jury decisions in Ferguson and New York City, writing a song and going out on the streets and protesting. -
