Entitled Lazaretto, the effort is due out June 9 in the UK and June 10 in the US via his label Third Man Records. Along with the announcement, White released a "first taste" of the album called "High Ball Stepper," a gritty instrumental track preceding the first single and title track "Lazaretto," which is due out later this month.

    Yesterday we reported that the Cure's Robert Smith wasn't too enthusiastic about the release of 4:14 Scream, the companion to 2008's 4:13 Dream. He called the project "a bit of a sore point" considering the band's lineup has shifted since 2008. Rather than rehash old material, he'd rather focus on new music with the current members. Now, Smith has posted a statement to the band's official website, clarifying his earlier remarks and revealing that three new releases are actually in the works.
