• 5 Album Titles That Explain The Band Name

One of the most important things to consider when choosing a band name is how catchy, distinctive, and memorable it is, even if it doesn't necessarily make any sense. These five bands, however, chose names that needed a bit more clarification, and offered some explanations in some of their album titles.
  • 7 "Head Like A Hole" Covers for Nine Inch Nails' 'Pretty Hate Machine's 25th Anniversary: Devo, AFI and More

If your friend insists on arguing that 'Pretty Hate Machine' is a better record (everyone's got one of this friend) than 'The Downward Spiral,' smile and nod before suggesting that perhaps "Head Like A Hole" is better than any one track on 'Downward Spiral.' This is still a contentious argument, but far closer to reality than the previous one. The track's been a live staple for every one of those 25 years and many other groups have tried their hand at it. We decided to rank a few.
  • 6 Album Covers That Reference Movies

If you want your album cover to catch someone's eye when they're looking around for music online or in a record store, one good way is to design an album cover that looks strangely familiar. These six artists did just that by basing their album covers off of famous movies.
  • 13 Album Covers That Literally Represent The Title

Though an album's title and artwork should usually complement one another, it's not often that you see an album title that is pretty much describing the cover itself. Here are thirteen album covers that literally represent the title.
  • Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI Touring Together

Three rock bands that toe the line between alternative and mainstream rock will be teaming up this summer for a solid tour: Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI will take part in what's being called the "Carnivores Tour." We apologize for the crappy descriptor in the opening sentence, but that's really about all the bands have in common from a musical perspective...unless you know some more in-depth details about the groups involved.
  • AFI Brings Joy Through Its Sorrow to Devoted New York City Fans

AFI's fan base, the "Despair Faction," put more emphasis on the faction aspect than the despair. Although prone to wearing every shade of black available at Hot Topic, the group is a friendly bunch at the band's shows, waiting for hours outside the venue and selling out concerts as soon as tickets go on sale, as they did for the October 10 show at Webster Hall in New York City. Perhaps they enjoy the music more than the mood, or perhaps being in the presence of cult-of-personality vocalist Davey Havok (although guitarist Jade Puget certainly has his admirers) pushes the clouds away for brief moments. The positive vibes made even the fan club's official slogan, "through our bleeding, we are one," (frequently chanted) seem like a good thing.
