  • Taylor Swift and '1989' no. 1 for Ninth Time on Billboard 200; Rae Sremmurd Debuts at No. 5 with 'SremmLife,' Only New Album in Top 30

Bet you can't guess what performer finished on top of the Billboard 200 this week! Taylor Swift and 1989? Okay, maybe it wasn't that hard to figure out. Although the album saw a big drop in terms of equivalent album sales (down to 155,000, the first time at less than 200,000 for the set), it still managed to take its ninth week at no. 1 since debuting 11 weeks ago. Ed Sheeran and Nicki Minaj still factor high.

The biggest music festival debut in the United States this year may very well be Rock in Rio, which will head to Las Vegas for two huge weekends in May. The festival added more firepower to a show already featuring headlining sets from Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Metallica and more. • Noel Gallagher Disses Ed Sheeran: 'Thinking Out Loud' Singer Fires Right Back in Response to Wembley Stadium Slight

Noel Gallagher does not dig Ed Sheeran or contemporary pop stars, for that matter. The former Oasis member shared his feelings regarding Sheeran's three sold-out Wembley Stadium dates with "NME" recently before tearing into today's musical landscape. The "Thinking Out Loud" singer promptly responded to the remarks."I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible," Gallagher said about Sheeran selling out the stadium. "When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a f--king guitar it seems subversive, but it's f--king not."Originally, Sheeran was scheduled to play one show this July, but two additional gigs were added due to popular demand."I can live in it, it's really enjoyable," the pop star fired back.Gallagher's inital comments were followed by a long speech about the good old days.

  • Taylor Swift Tops Albums Chart with '1989' But Comes Up Short of Usher's Record; 'Guardians of The Galaxy' Leads Soundtrack Charge

Taylor Swift may have topped the Albums Sales Charts for the eighth time but her "low" week of 172,000 copies sold means that 1989 will not catch Usher's streak of 200,000-plus sales weeks that he set with Confessions during 2004.
  • Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran Win Big at People's Choice Awards 2015: Iggy Azalea, 5 Seconds of Summer Also Take Home Trophies

And now, Sheeran will be an official VH1 storyteller by reviving and leading up a reinstatement of VH1 Storytellers Live.
  • Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" Bumps Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor from Top of Hot 100 [VIDEOS]

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars's "Uptown Funk" promised it was gonna give it to ya, and now it's kicking off the new year by doing just that. • Taylor Swift and '1989' Take Eighth Billboard 200 No. 1 Spot; Nicki Minaj Remains No. 2, 'Into The Woods' Soundtrack Gets Only Sales Increase

It's still cold out there for new music releases after the first full week of album sales during 2015, so it's not surprise that Taylor Swift was still on top of the Billboard 200 when today's numbers came out. It's the eighth week of ten that 1989 has been available where the record ended up on top, which makes it her second most-decorated album yet (Fearless spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at no. 1 during 2008-'09). It moved 244,000 equivalent albums last week.

  • Ed Sheeran Covers Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" on Jools Holland's Year-End Special: WATCH

Ed Sheeran is known to bend himself into any number of genres. He'll rap with Hoodie Allen, release a touching acoustic anthem for himself and write pop classics with One Direction, but he hasn't ventured much into reggae - until New Year's Eve, that is.
