  • Dorothy Releases New Rockin' Single 'Raise Hell' On Hot Station KCRW

So how do we describe rock n' roll rabble-rousers Dorothy? They're never fail to disappoint on any track that they've released thus far. Their songs and videos are filled with classic rock illusions as we saw in their latest music video "Wicked Ones." They prove that women can rock as hard as men out in the Hollywood scene in Los Angeles and continue to prove this on the new single "Raise Hell," released on radio station KCRW.
  • Prince Says "It's a Bad Time For Music," Cites Lack of Creativity

Prince has always been critical of the music industry, but usually that criticism is directed at labels and the bureaucratic, political machine that runs the industry, not the artists themselves. Now he's turned his eye to artists though and in an interview with 'The New York Post' he cited his concerns about the lack of creativity in pop music today as why "it's a bad time for music."
  • Talib Kweli Releases Surprise Free Album - 'F*ck The Money'

Talib Kweli has been pretty quiet in the past few years on the music front, but yesterday, the New York City rapper decided to surprise his fans with a free album. Kweli brings out some big names to contribute on the project, aptly titled 'F*ck The Money,' like Miguel, Ab-Soul, Styles P, Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump and others.
  • Miguel Gives Smashing Pumpkins Writing Credit on 'leaves' over '1979' Similarity

More and more performers are playing it safe when it comes to songwriting, in light of the recent multimillion lawsuit between Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and the Marvin Gaye estate. The most recent example is Miguel, who gave Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins a songwriting credit on his track "leaves" after realizing that the down-tempo ballad's guitar riff was reminiscent of "1979."
  • Meek Mill and 'DWMTM' Gets Another Week as Billboard 200 Shifts Dates

It's an odd span for Nielsen and the Billboard 200, as the international (and official) album release date shifted from Tuesdays to Fridays last week. The next, regular Billboard 200 report should come next Saturday, however Billboard has tried to transition by running a report in the meantime that adds last weeks totals to the four days in-between official release dates. Music Times is trying to run things a little differently, by noting the Top 10 by actual sales during that period. Meek Mill comes out on top again.
  • Tyrese Uses Homeless Woman as Prop for Instagram 'Black Rose' Promo

Tyrese has been busy promoting his new album Black Rose but one bit of self-promotion stands out...for shamelessly mocking a homeless individual while doing so. The video, which is still able to be viewed on the R&B vocalist's Instagram page, features the performer referencing the sleeping woman as a metaphor for the state of R&B.
  • Meek Mill Sells 5x as Many Records as Miguel, James Taylor on Albums Chart

Yesterday we showed during our summary of the Billboard 200 that Meek Mill and 'Dreams Worth More Than Money' sold nearly five-times as much as any other new title on the list. The same trend applies to actual album sales, where the album moved actually (not nearly) sold more than 500 percent more copies than the runner-up. The emcee stands a strong chance at joining Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar as the only performers to top the Billboard 200 for more than one week when next week's sales are revealed.
  • Meek Mill Dominates Billboard 200; Miguel, Taylor Swift Try to Keep Up

Things started off big on the Billboard 200, with Meek Mill's 'Dreams Worth More Than Money', but then quickly dropped off. Mill might argue that his ideals have more philosophical value, but he can't argue with the financial results: Dreams opened with 246,000 in equivalent sales, easily marking his best sales week ever, as well as the fourth-largest opening of 2015 (trailing only Drake's 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late,' Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' and Mumford & Sons' 'Wilder Mind').
  • Miguel Clarifies Frank Ocean Feud, Promotes 'Wildheart' on Twitter

Miguel made headlines early Monday (July 6) when a controversial comment about Frank Ocean from an interview with The Sunday Times hit the Internet. But now, he's trying to make it all good and the Wildheart singer later took to Twitter to clarify his statement.
