    The Global Citizen announced that Beyoncé and Jay-Z will headline the upcoming concert in South Africa in honor of Nelson Mandela. Mr. and Mrs. Carter will join Ed Sheeran, Usher, Chis Martin, and other artist set to perform at the event.

    NME reports that British actor and musician Idris Elba will be releasing an album called Mi Mandela, inspired by his performance as South African president Nelson Mandela in the 2013 film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The album will feature contributions from Mumford & Sons and James Blake, as well as Maverick Sabre, Mr. Hudson, Cody Chestnutt, George the Poet, Nothembi Mkhwebane, and Mahotella Queens.

    Nelson Mandela had an impact on all parts of culture, and not just within South Africa. Tributes and dedications have poured in from around the music world, and now SiriusXM Radio is putting together a limited-run radio station in order bring it all together. The Nelson Mandela Channel will play on SiriusXM channel 111, beginning at noon on Friday and continuing through December 15.

    Nelson Mandela's death at the age of 95 touched off mourning the world over, and inspired coverage from all fields of media. It wasn't empty sentiment either. Major news sites had no issue demonstrating Mandela's importance in international politics, and ESPN's retrospective addressed Mandela's love of sport and how he used it to better South Africa. Mandela's love of music is less documented perhaps, but much like he used rugby to meld the cultural divide in his nation, the leader also used music to bring his people together.
