    Legendary folk singer-songwriter and social activist Joan Baez is about to turn 75. To celebrate her over 55 year-long career as a musician, she's throwing a star-studded birthday concert at the historic Beacon Theatre on January 27th. Special guests joining Baez on stage include Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, the Indigo Girls, Damien Rice, David Bromberg, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins and Nano Stern; more performers are to be announced as the date nears.

    PBS will air Violinist Itzhak Perlman and cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot performing the opening song “Yism’Khu (They Shall Rejoice)” backed by The Klezmer Conservatory Band and The Rejoice Chamber Orchestra on Thursday, August 28 at 9 pm. New Yorkers take note: Thirteen will air the program nearly a month later on Sunday, September 21 at 7pm on THIRTEEN, not PBS.
