• Junk Mail: The Libertines 'Anthems for Doomed Youth' Album Review

The Libertines brought that familiar blend in to Anthems for Doomed Youth, doing what they did best just doing it 11 years later. This album felt like magnificent continuity in to what Up the Bracket and The Libertines established all those years ago. While age may have not been the best remedy for Barat and Doherty's vocals, their chemistry is still palpable and just there's nothing better out there. Will this be remembered as a classic like The Libertines? Probably not. But we're damn lucky to have this album.

New singles "Gunga Din," "Glasgow Coma Scale Blues" and title track "Anthem For Doomed Youth," have also been receiving decent reviews leading up to the release of their third LP, scheduled to drop this Friday (Sept.7).

  • The Libertines Confirm New Album 'Anthems For Doomed Youth' for September

The Libertines have made good on the promise of a new album during 2015, announcing that Anthems For Doomed Youth will drop on September 4. The band signed to Harvest Records/Virgin EMI during 2014 with the aspirations for a new record this year and it seems that the group has come through. This marks the first album in more than a decade for the rockers and, believe it or not, only the band's third album overall. Issues and disagreements caused the band to go on a lengthy hiatus following 2004's self-titled record.
  • Kanye West's Glastonbury Performance Inspires 10 Headlines on NME.com

Music publications can be accused of lingering on one subject for way too long. Music Times is just as guilty as any. British publications typically go nuts during the weekend of Glastonbury, arguably the world's most-hyped music festival. The 2015 version of events has set a new absurd high as music writers obsess over every breath Kanye West took during his much-ballyhooed set. So much so that ten different headlines at NME published on Sunday featured the words "Kanye West" in their headlines...plus another two or three where West was the main image for the article.
  • T in The Park 2015 Under Fire as Organizers Seek to Meet Needs of Nesting Ospreys

Scotland's T In The Park Festival has a new home for 2015 but the old Spring residents aren't excited for them to be there: Organizers have an unusual issue in dealing with the protected ospreys that enjoy nesting in the area of Strathallan Castle. Promoters have ensured fans that the festival will go forward, and the birds will be able to nest accordingly.

  • Ukraine and 5 Other (Band) Situations Bound to Fall Apart: The Wu-Tang Clan, The Libertines and Everything Scott Weiland

Good news out of Eastern Europe today, as a group of the continent's leaders announced that a ceasefire had been reached between the government of Ukraine and the rebellious faction in the southeast of the country. You can probably hedge bets that shots will be fired soon enough however. After all, the last time the parties arrived at a ceasefire (September of 2014), it had collapsed by the end of the year. Other things that won't be surprising when they collapse: The reunions of these beloved bands.
  • Carl Barat: New Libertines Songs 'Surprisingly Upbeat'

The Libertines are one of rock's most mysterious acts. Off-stage, they are not quite as dysfunctional as Oasis, but they have certainly given the Gallagher brothers a run for their money. It has been more than 10 years since the world got an album from the U.K. group, but that is scheduled to change in 2015. Carl Barat said the new songs are "surprisingly upbeat."
