Watch Nas And Jack White Perform "One Mic"
Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones is better known by his moniker Nas. The rapper from Queensbridge, New York, has made quite the significant impact on the rap and hip hop industry. Ever since he released his debut album 'Illmatic' in 1994, Nas has been one of the most influential rappers on the planet.
But 'Illmatic' wasn't his only studio album by a long shot. In fact, Nas is responsible for ten studio albums, three collaborative albums, three compilations and a slew of singles! One very important and influential single was the release of "One Mic" on his 2001 album 'Stillmatic.'
John Anthony Gillis is better known by his moniker Jack White. He was part of The White Stripes, the rock band that formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The band consisted of himself and girlfriend Meg White. Eventually the couple got married but the schtick of The White Stripes was that the duo were actually brother and sister. Either way the band was responsible for six studio albums with 'The White Stripes,' 'De Stijl,' 'White Blood Cells,' 'Elephant,' 'Get Behind Me Satan' and 'Icky Thump.' Unfortunately, on February 2nd 2011, the duo announced that were no longer going to continue to make music as The White Stripes.
But that never slowed Jack White down one bit as he has continued to make amazing music. And thanks to the huge sucess from The White Stripes, Jack White has been able to work with many big names in the music industry in the pursuit of growing his solo career.
Today is one of the times where Jack White gets to collab with another well-known artist and the final product is perfection. So for BBC's film 'The American Epic Sessions,' Jack White is joined by Nas to perform Nas' classic anthem "One Mic." The video is absolutely beautiful as White plays the piano while Nas raps.
