Dua Lipa has been planning her new album for over seven years.

The "Future Nostalgia" singer was named one Time 100's most influential people this year, sitting down for an interview where she opened up about the power of manifestation throughout her life and career.

During a 2017 interview with the outlet, the "Don't Start Now" songstress said that she would "like to take over the world." It seems as though she has as the Grammy-winner gears up to release her third album - after making appearances in hit films like Barbie and Argyle.

Her new record, Radical Optimism, drops on May 3. However, she reveals that she has been plotting the project ever since she was working on her debut album in 2017. She admits that ever since she was a little girl, she has had a habit of writing things down that she hopes will come to fruition.

"I remember when I was working on my first album, I was making notes on what my third album was going to be," Lipa says. "It's mad to think about, but I remember speaking to my close friend and A&R Joe [Kentish], 'Maybe album three, I could work with [Tame Impala's] Kevin Parker,' and he was like, 'Alright, hold your horses, let's take baby steps.'"

The thought process behind the album came when Lipa said that by the time she is ready to craft the new LP, she thinks that "maybe I'd be deserving to be in a room with an artist I so deeply admire and look up to."

The method is all part of manifestation for the singer, which she says has led her to great success. She finds it "important to just write things down" because "you never know what could come true."

"Manifesting is a big thing for me," she continues. "I stand very firmly in the belief of putting things into the world. Subconsciously, you just work towards them. Nothing's ever too big."

Although she has been planning the album for a period of time, she admits that it does tap into a more "mature" side of her talents. The new switch in aesthetic has been evidenced with singles like "Houdini," "Training Season," and the recently-released "Illusion."

"I'm definitely not the same person I was when I wrote my first album. I've evolved and learned so much... taking it as it comes, not seeing anything as bad or something as a setback. That involves a lot of growing and understanding myself, knowing my worth, whether it be in business, love, or friendship."

As she barrels into new territory with each project she touches, Lipa does not seem to be slowing down any time soon. After she began planning this new LP so many years in advance, it is hard to imagine what she is planning for seven years from now.

"I've been planting seeds for my other endeavors my whole life," the "Levitating" singer concluded. "It's a way for me to be able to show everyone other sides to who I am. I love my music career and the fact that it gives me so much opportunity for expression. But it's not the only thing I am."
