Being a fan of someone can definitely push a person to devote a certain amount of time and effort to show appreciation and love.

In the case of 35-year-old Myra Carvalho, she is now behind bars because of her extreme adoration for Grammy-winning singer Harry Styles.

Harry Styles Stalker Jailed

According to Sky News, Carvalho was sentenced to 14 weeks of imprisonment after she pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

Carvalho reportedly sent Styles 8,000 cards in less than a month, causing the artist to be "shaken up."

Metro News UK sources said that Carvalho's actions caused a "substantial adverse effect" on Styles' "usual day-to-day activities."

The woman "pursued a course of conduct - namely harassment - which amounted to stalking causing serious alarm or distress."

"Harry was really shaken up. He had spent the start of the month in Anguilla with Taylor and James Corden, and he'd had a great break," the source said when Carvalho first interacted with Styles this year. 'This happened not long after he had come back. Harry just wants to carry on as normal, but this has been concerning."

Carvalho had been staying at a backpacker hostel in Kensington and Chelsea, in South West London. She was ordered not to contact Styles directly or indirectly from now on and she was barred not to enter an area of Northwest London. The fan was also ordered to pay Styles a victim surcharge of £134.

Additionally, Carvalho was served with a 10-year restraining order against Styles, meaning she cannot attend any event where Styles will be performing.

Stalker Needs Medical Help to Overcome Behavior?

Over to the comments section of The Daily Mail, netizens have expressed their opinion about Carvalho's questionable behavior.

"She won't be deterred by the prison sentence she needs proper medical intervention and needs to be sectioned. On this occasion I don't agree with the prison sentence it won't do anything at all even if it was for longer because it's clear she doesn't believe she is doing anything wrong or if she does she can't help it," a user said.

"I fail to see how a custodial sentence is appropriate here when help and not punishment is required," another shared.

"Let's hope she receives the help she very obviously needs so she does not do it again," a netizen wrote.
