There are a lot of Days Of Our Lives fans waking up disappointed today. There has been a lot of speculation recently that the beloved character, Bo Brady (as played by Peter Reckell) might be on its' way back to Salem. Reckell has said in interviews that he would love to return to give fans a better sense of closure because after being such an integral part of the Days' landscape for a few decades, the character was written out in a pretty lackluster way. Reckell's recent tweets have led long-time fans of the soap to believe that he was hashing out a deal with the powers-that-be but last night he confirmed that it simply wasn't the case at all.
Reckell took to his official Twitter to comment directly saying,
"Sorry if I got your hopes up re Days. When I said there's movement, its for something else. That Old saying about doors opening and closing;)"
Earlier he also addressed the rumors about why he left the soap in the first place. Of course there had been rumors about stalled contract negotiations and a dispute over money, something Reckell shot down while tweeting,
"4 those of u who r concerned or have been led astray by rumors,let me clarify things. My reasons for leaving r the same as David Letterman's. He left his show of many years to spend time with his family. If you spent an hour with my daughter you'd see why I would rather be with her. Our time with our children is so very short ,I want to spend as much time as I can with my family. I missed a lot, and I had to change that."
The actor insists that any future commitment to Days' has hit a snag over time not money. After decades of working in the daytime grind Reckell insists on putting family first and any job that he will take has to allow him to be present in his daughter's life. It does sound like he has something new in the works and that this 'new door' most accommodate his family life. Are you disappointed that Reckell isn't headed back to Days'- at least for now?
