Kanye West has a lot going on in his life right now with a new baby, an upcoming wedding and all of the other things that come with being a hip hop mogul who has a lot of opinions. He always has a lot of projects brewing at any given time, not always related to music (i.e. his cameo in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues out Dec. 18). But on Juan Epstein's podcast, hosted by Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds, the artist speaks about his roots in rap.

On the "nerdy historical hip-hop podcast," West shares some of his thoughts on equipment preferences, his encounters with paparazzi and meeting Michael Jackson. As much as West tends to be the kind of guy who figures out how to say something that sounds both ridiculous and, as far as he's concerned profound at the same time, this interview really shows a different side of the rapper.

When you give a musician an opportunity to simply talk about their art and inspirations, as opposed to publicity-induced sound bites, it really takes on a different vibe.

West continuously gets into to trouble with his rants and unpredictable insights, likely iterated while speaking in the third person, but his popularity has plummeted according to some sources. Fox News reported that the man behind Yeezus has made a huge mistake by becoming one of the Kardashian clan:

"When putting two egotistical, self serving individuals together, you'll create a rather vile spark. And in times of economic hardship across the country, bragging about materialism is typically frowned upon," said California-based public relations expert Angie Meyer-Olszewski. "The Kardashian brand is a sinking ship. Anybody who jumps on board will eventually fall. A successful celebrity in his own right, Kanye made a horrible strategic decision by engaging himself with Kim."

We'll see how the notorious celeb couple's relationship plays out. Listen to this hour-long interview with the pop icon and new father below.
