The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne developed an interesting friendship with party girl Ke$ha when she unexpectedly showed up on the band's album Heady Fwends, along with Yoko Ono and Lightning Bolt. But that was the end of their connection as they continued to have an ongoing Twitter relationship.

In an interview with Pitchfork last year Coyne explained his feelings for Ke$ha: "I like her so much because she's just willing to be a freak. I'm around a lot of rock star people, and there's just so much fucking pandering and drama. She's not like that. It's such a great relief to be around people that are so energetic, creative, funny, and into life."

Then the two had planned to put together a full collaborative project together cleverly named Lip$ha, but after what seemed to be more of an issue from the labels, the plans unfortunately dissipated. It would have been interesting; especially considering they almost did some of the work while on acid.

"Well, when I got to her house, she said, 'I've never taken acid, so I can't sing about that stuff,'" Coyne said. "She's done lots of other drugs, but not acid. So she was like, 'Why don't we do some acid, and then I can sing about it.' She told her assistant, 'Go get us some acid.'" They didn't actually do it though because as Coyne put it, they needed to record, not to mention she already just naturally seems like she's on acid.

Rumors about Ke$ha's appearance on the Lips' Stone Roses cover album The Time Has Come To Shoot You Down...What A Sound left people wondering why her name was uncredited. But her vocals do actually show up along side The Flaming Lips and New Fumes in their cover of "Elizabeth My Dear," and now you can listen to it.
