Modest Mouse waited eight years between releasing its albums We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank and Strangers to Ourselves, and now it seems like the band's fans will never have to wait that long again. In recent interviews, the "Lampshades on Fire" band admitted that the follow-up to its upcoming album is already under works - and get ready, because things could get a little weird with it.

Speaking to hmv.com, Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock admitted that the seventh Modest Mouse LP is already in the works, and that it's going to be released in a much tighter timeline than eight years.

"I'm pretty far along with the next one as it is. I went in to making this one with two records in mind." Brock said. "It'll be released as quickly as it's legally allowed to be. It's a partner to this one."

And though each of the teased tracks from Strangers to Ourselves sound like glorious new mixes of what we've heard from Modest Mouse before, the seventh album could end up being something quite different... even "strange."

"I promise our next record will come out sooner. We have a bunch of songs and we'll probably rework them. They are good-they're just not finished. We might put out something really strange next," Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green said in an interview with Relix.

What that could mean is yet to be determined, but one thing is for sure: fans won't have to wait nearly a decade to find out (or so we hope).

Strangers to Ourselves will be released on March 17.
