Last night, 50 Cent performed at a Capitol Records party on a Manhattan rooftop. During the performance, he debuted a new single, "9 Shots," off his upcoming album, Street King Immortal. Fitty has said the song will drop tonight (August 13) and it will be played during the season finale of Power.

UPDATE: 50 has officially released the single. Listen to "9 Shots" below or purchase it on iTunes.

50 told the crowd that the song is a metaphor for "9 painful moments" he's endured throughout his life. It also happens to be the number of gunshots 50 survived during an incident in 2000, before he was discovered by Eminem or Dr. Dre. His nine gunshot wounds, including one to the face, have since become the stuff of rap legend.

The song keeps the same Get Rich or Die Tryin'-era subject matter, with an updated sound that's laid-back but with club potential -- especially thanks to 50's slower, more deliberate rapping style. Watch him perform the new single below.

50's hoping for a hit record with Street King Immortal, as the rapper recently declared bankruptcy after giving up $7 million for uploading Rick Ross's baby mama's sex tape to the web without permission. The album has been delayed several times and is still without a release date. The new single follows "Get Low," featuring Jeremih, 2 Chainz and T.I., which was released on May 20.

The season finale Power, of which 50 is both a star and producer, airs this Saturday, August 15, at 9PM. Expect to hear "9 Shots" at some point during the show.

As seen in the video (above), 50 preludes the "9 Shots" debut by telling the crowd about how he's been spending a lot of time in nightclubs promoting EFFEN Vodka and how the music he's been hearing has inspired him to make different types of records. He then quotes one song in particular, Rico Richie's "Poppin.'" Richie is currently in jail on on drugs and weapons charges, and 50 says he wants the Atlanta rapper to be the newest member of G-Unit upon his release.
