Killer Mike's political bona fides have never been called into question. Since releasing R.A.P. Music in 2012, his tenacity for sociopolitical activism became apparent to a larger audience, and the rapper began to capitalize on his new reputation. In fact, Mike even hopes to run for office as a George State representative in 2016. The rapper has given lectures, met with high profile politicians, and delivered some of the most scathing political criticism in Hip Hop today. He is particularly passionate about the subject of police brutality, with a special insight into the issue given his former cop father. Now, the rapper has given a solution on how to end the epidemic of systemic racism in America.

In a new interview with New Republic, Mike details what it would take to start reversing many of the racist trends that pervade many American institutions. The Run the Jewels rapper explains, "I'm telling White people: In order to stop systemic racism, you must first befriend, become a colleague of, get to know intimately, put yourself culturally in the framework of someone who doesn't look like you. And it sounds so simple. But when you do it, it becomes such a feat. Because it forces you, on an individual level, to challenge every preconceived thing your team has ordained as OK."

Killer Mike has taken his ideas across the country, lecturing for students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and even introducing Bernie Sanders at a campaign rally in Atlanta.

The Atlanta born rapper/activist says, "The way you start to break down systemic racism is to start building individual relationships with people who are not like you."

As previously reported, Killer Mike's group, Run The Jewels, has recently released a remix album entitled Meow the Jewels, which is comprised entirely of cat sounds.
