Skrillex and Wiwek have unveiled the trailer for their upcoming short film titled Still In The Cage.
A press release describes the film as a "dark adventure drama." It is set in Bangkok and as one can tell from the trailer, uses locals and is filmed in Thai. Wiwek's latest OWSLA EP, The Free and Rebellious, which includes his collaboration with Skrillex and Elliphant titled "Killa", scores the short film.
Jodeb wrote and directed the visual project that has some stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside. It appears to have some similar costume designs and themes to Skrillex's "Red Lips" music video, which featured individuals dancing in jarring motions with their bodies covered in heavy makeup.
From the trailer one can get a sense of what might happen to the protagonists, but there is still a lot to be seen wherever they end up.
The film will debut tomorrow night, Aug. 17 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA in Los Angeles. Following the screening there will an audience Q&A and as one might expect with Skrillex and OWSLA - an afterparty hosted by the two DJs putting together the film. Fans can RSVP on a special website here. The screening kicks off at 9 p.m., the Q&A runs for a half hour after at 9:30 and then the afterparty starts at 10 p.m.
Though the project seems to have more influence from Wiwek and his music, it is important to note the growing empire of Skrillex as he moves beyond just a producer and becomes an artist who spans many different areas of the entertainment business.
