Kanye West allegedly backed out of his Coachella concert only days before producers scrambled to find a replacement.
No solid rationale was given for his decision at the time, but a source informed Page Sixthat after months of publicly criticizing his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new lover Pete Davidson, it seems that the Grammy award-winning rapper is wanting to remain out of the limelight.
He is also apparently intending to get therapy as a result of his unpredictable internet rants.
"Kanye is withdrawing because he wants to remain out of the spotlight following the incident with Kim and Pete; he wants to receive therapy."
They went on to declare that, apart from not even rehearsing or planning an extravagant show, he must withdraw from Coachella.
Travis Scott was expected to join him on stage after his name was deleted from the list of performers. The Weeknd is said to be a possible replacement for the "Donda" rapper.
The father-of-four backed out of the event, leaving organizers with a significant spot to fill, according to TMZ.
Social media users hailed the action, with one calling it an outstanding plan.
"Kanye West's decision to skip Coachella alongside Travis Scott was possibly the finest public relations move the two of them have made in a long time."
Another remarked that the event's organizers should be grateful that they didn't have to intervene after a petition was launched to have Kanye removed from the event's lineup.
He was supposed to headline the event's Sunday dates.
But this isn't the first time Kanye West has sought therapy and gone into hiding for a bit.
According to another source, the "Jesus Is King" rapper told the KKW Beauty entrepreneur earlier this month that he would not be making any public appearances or making any provocative social media posts.
"And he'll travel elsewhere to get well," said a second person.
"At the moment, Ye is devoted to a strong co-parenting relationship with Kim and is focused on raising their lovely children."
