Paul McCartney surprised his concert attendees and seemingly supported Johnny Depp at the same time.

On Tuesday, McCartney held his Get Back Tour at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and serenaded thousands of his fans inside the venue. While the event was expected to be about The Beatles icon alone, he took his chance to subtly support his longtime pal, Depp.

When he performed the song "My Valentine," a video of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor playing the guitar could be seen on the large screen behind the musician.

While McCartney has not confirmed publicly whether he supports Depp amid his legal battle against Amber Heard, he became one of the A-list stars in the industry to do so.

Eddie Vedder's wife, Jill, shared footage of the event on Instagram and told her followers that she fully supports the actor in his current battle.

"Might be controversial to post this video with J.D. Don't care. Know him only to be a gentleman. And while I support women and the 'me too' movement. I also know some women who have destroyed the lives of innocent & good men," she went on.

Paul McCartney, Johnny Depp Have Been Friends For a Long Time

McCartney's low-key support for Depp might be surprising to some. But others already expected it as the two had worked together on several projects in the past and maintained their friendship afterward.

Depp has been the subject of McCartney's music videos, including "My Valentine" with Natalie Portman. McCartney also made a special appearance in the sequel "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

"I've known Johnny a while. You know, I always admired him as Jack Sparrow. He said, 'I'd love you to be in the next one.' I said, 'What, me, a pirate?' He says, 'Yeah, you could do it and have a lot of fun.' So, he wrote me in. It was great. I'm loving it," he said.

The singer thought that appearing in the film was a way of repaying Depp as the actor helped him in his music career, too.

However, that film became Depp's final "Pirates" film as he was immediately fired by Disney from the franchise days after Amber Heard published her damaging op-ed on The Washington Post.

In the recent defamation trial, Depp expressed how he felt so betrayed by the firing that he would never go back to play Captain Jack Sparrow again.
