Young Thug and Gunna have been in the headlines for more than two weeks since their arrest earlier this month, and the latter has been denied to be released from jail despite the posted bond.

On the other hand, the same presiding judge delayed Young Thug's hearing to prioritize a more important matter in the case.

Gunna Denied Bond, Young Thug Hearing Delayed Over THIS?

In a Fulton County Superior Court hearing, Judge Ural Glanville denied Kitchen a bond.

A bond is a legal assurance to the court from a third-party bond company posting on behalf of the defendant to force him/her to return to court after release for a trial.

It is different from bail, which is a penalty that the defendant must pay to be released. Gunna and Young Thug were both denied this.

Glanville has provided little detail on the reason for his denial. But it was evident that he was swayed by the prosecutors' arguments, who were worried about witness intimidation should the rapper be released.

"The court was obviously concerned about threats and intimidation of witnesses. We believe when the court hears evidence, not just the words of the prosecutor, it will find that Sergio's release on bond will not, directly or indirectly, pose a significant risk to witnesses. We look forward to having an evidentiary hearing on this as soon as the court permits," Gunna's legal team said.

Prosecutors argued that since Gunna holds a "command position" from the YSL gang, he might direct their troops to intimidate witnesses.

Aside from the denial of bond, Gunna's trial date was already set to January 2023.

On the other hand, Young Thug's hearing was reportedly delayed after Judge Granville decided to take on a different but related case.

The same presiding judge will first rule on the prosecution claims of Young Thug's attorney, Brian Steel. The opposing camp argues that Steel should be disqualified from representing the rapper over a conflict of interest.

Steel's hearing will be litigated in the coming weeks before judging Thugger's bond and pre-trial release.

The two were jailed on a massive grand-jury indictment involving the YSL (Young Slime Life) gang, an alleged Young Thug-founded gang in Atlanta. The two rappers were arrested over Atlanta's RICO charges and other felony counts.
