Elton John said he would wrap up his career with his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour," but his manager revealed a plot twist.
John's fans have been taking their chances to see the legendary singer after he resumed his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour" amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It has already broken records, giving him the best memory before he officially takes a bow.
In an interview with Billboard, the singer's manager David Furnish said the recent shows are indeed part of John's final tour. But he clarified that it does not mean John will not have more shows.
"I know for a fact he will not be touring in any capacity. What you're going to see is the possibility of a special one-off or a small residency in one venue for a limited period of time. I don't think it will be Las Vegas," he said.
Furnish, still, noted that it would not surprise him if John would not do more live shows as he has been wanting to spend more time with his family.
With that, John would need to consider the next step very carefully and think about it first before returning to touring.
As of October 9, Elton John's farewell tour already grossed $661.3 million after selling a total of 4.5 million tickets. He became the third musician to surpass the $600 million mark following U2's "360 Tour" and Ed Sheeran's "The Divide Tour."

When Furnish was asked whether the tour changed now that the world does not fear the COVID-19 virus as much as before, the manager said it was not the same in their case.
Instead of lowering their guards down, John's team still follows a strict testing protocol to ensure the safety of the singer and the band.

Even the singer himself reportedly feels down because he wants to be closer to his band. Unfortunately, the health issue makes him isolated from anyone to avoid contracting the virus.
In fact, despite their thorough procedure, John still tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this year. The 74-year-old music icon had to cancel his shows in Texas to keep himself and his team safe.
Although the cancelation disappointed him, he came back stronger when he fully recovered from the dreaded disease.
