Makeup artist Karen Faye spoke about how a dishonest Lisa Marie tricked the father-of-three into believing their marriage might be fixed before filing for divorce in 1996 at the wrongful death suit.
Karen recalled how the mother-of-four contacted the "Billie Jean" singer and begged him not to divorce her despite their strained relationship. She had been refusing to listen to Michael when he said he didn't think their marriage would last.
He then made a vow to her not to file for divorce. The next day, though, the news was all over it. Presley filed for divorce.
"He was in shock. He made the decision to give her another sincere shot. She then made that turn after.
Michael apparently felt the effects of their divorce for a long time. The choice by Lisa Marie to go behind his back was a "well-planned tactic that left him emotionally and physically damaged," according to Ian Halperin, author of "Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson."
