Eminem's stunt double, Ryan Shepard, died in January after a tragic accident, his brother confirmed.

Shepard's sibling, Kyle, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement to a news outlet, saying that his brother died in Washington in January. He did not disclose when exactly Shepard died, but he revealed he passed away after getting hit by a pickup truck when he attempted to cross the street.

According to Kyle, emergency personnel immediately responded to the area before rushing him to a hospital. However, he died afterward at the age of 40.

Apart from being Eminem's stunt double, Shepard also served as the rapper's photo double and stand-in. He attended the MTV Movie Awards and portrayed Eminem's superhero character, Rap Boy.

He also traveled with the 50-year-old "Sing for the Moment" hitmaker as part of his 2002 Anger Management tour. Shepard joined Eminem in his Japan and Europe tour in 2003 before appearing in the "Purple Hills" music video as his double.

Following his death, Kyle sang praises for him and called him a person who was "incredibly intelligent." Outside his work with Eminem, Shepard also served as Disney's ride mechanical engineer and SpaceX's test automation engineer.

His LinkedIn page, per The Mirror, revealed that he was working freelance as Lead Animatronics Engineer in Garner Holt Productions. He also became the CEO of the company RS Robotics.

Part of his bio reads: "Specialties: Expertise in Mechanical Engineering Design & Analysis, Automation, Robotics, and Programming. Well versed in all Adobe Creative Suite and most CAD and programming languages. I thrive on doing the impossible as well as blank page design."

Shepard was survived by his two children.

His bereaved family held a memorial service for him on Feb. 4.
