In 2021, fans were surprised after Nelly released his album "Heartland" as it sounded different from his previous projects as he collaborated with several male country musicians.

Today, it appears that the hip-hop star isn't done exploring the genre as he teased supporters about a new album featuring women within the country scene.

Speaking to Audacy's "Rob + Holly," the rapper revealed that the first country-infused album nearly two years ago featured male singers and it was intentional.

Now, the rapper will release a second part of the project, saying, "Heartland 2, the project that I'm working on now, that's the women of Country music. That'll be all my collaborations with women of Country music."

As of this writing, Nelly has not shared more information about his next project, he also didn't name anyone who could potentially appear on his album, but he promised that more details would be released in the coming months.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the rapper expressed his gratitude to the country music community and fans for allowing him to "come to the picnic."

Nelly 'Heartland'

The first part of his ongoing project was released in 2021, featuring some of the biggest names in country music like Kane Brown, Breland, Darius Rucker, Tyler Hubbard, and many more.

In an interview with Taste of Country, the rapper said he doesn't call "Heartland" a country album, but rather a "country-inspired" one because his main thing is hip-hop.

"It's my ode to country music for all the love and support that they've shown Nelly since I came into the game. I wanted to make something that I felt that specifically shows my gratitude for all that love," he added.

Nelly Country Album Inspiration

One of the main reasons why he wanted to pay homage to the genre was because of his upbringing, he grew up in the "heartland" of America, which is in Missouri.

During his childhood, his uncle was a fan of the Commodores (fronted by Lionel Richie) and he was the reason why he knew different genres of music, not just locked into a particular sound.

Some of the artists that inspired him were Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Charley Pride, and George Strait, who broke down expectations from the public when it came to the genre.
