We all know that we can take inspiration from songs from many things. Deeply creative and inspired people can draw inspiration from almost everything.

In the case of Charlie Puth, the idea of songwriting and the light bulb moment takes precedence over anything, including while making love.

Charlie Puth Song Inspiration

Speaking to Interview Magazine, the Grammy-nominated singer confessed to having a music inspiration while having sex with someone.

"I wrote the song in the middle of the act," he recalled. Maybe I should have focused on the act a little bit more, but the melody just kind of popped into my head."

Apparently, Puth "had stopped" and recorded a voice note not to lose the epiphany and headed back immediately to sex, adding that it was where the melody of the song came from.

What song was that? It was one of the songs on his new album-"Marks on My Neck."

Adding context to how "Marks On My Neck" materialized, Puth revealed that he was actually getting over someone at the time.

"It probably wasn't going to work out with this person and that was what I was energetically picking up, which is OK. It's all about the experience," he told the magazine.

As to why it was titled "Marks On My Neck," Puth explained that it was literally after he faced the mirror the morning after and saw the hickeys that the rather promiscuous encounter had resulted to.

"I remember waking up and looking at myself in the mirror, noticing these marks on my neck, and every day they'd heal and fade but so would the person who put them on me," Puth continued.
