Megadeth's first drummer Lee Rauch has died, his brother confirmed in a statement.

Rauch, whose real name was William Lee Rauch, remained out of the spotlight over the past few years and seemingly disconnected from his former bandmates. Although he became part of more bands after his exit from Megadeth, he notably became part of its first demo in 1984.

What Was Lee Rauch's Cause of Death?

In a Facebook post Friday, Rauch's brother Chris Rauch shared that they were having a sad day after losing his sibling, whom he called "a very strong man of faith" and "an awesome drummer."

He noted how he played a huge role in launching one of the biggest metal bands in history when he joined Megadeth as its first official drummer and worked with his then-bandmates, David Ellefson, Kerry King, and Dave Mustaine.

"Lee was a very loving and giving individual who was extremely hard working, he continued to play drums later in his life for the church, which made him happy," Chris continued in the post. "He was a loving son and a very honorable man."

Rauch's sibling also took his time to express how much he loved him and how much he would miss him after his tragic passing.

The Facebook statement did not disclose Lee Rauch's cause of death, or whether he suffered from any health issues before his passing. However, his bereaved family confirmed they would hold a memorial service for the late musician, with the final date and time to be announced at a later date.

Chris also asked everyone to keep their family in their prayers amid the saddening moment in their lives.

Lee Rauch Did Not Keep in Touch With Megadeth Members Before Death

Nearly a decade before Rauch's death, his former bandmate Mustaine sat for an interview with Bob Nalbandian (via Blabbermouth) and was asked about the drummer's whereabouts years after he left Megadeth.

According to Mustaine, Rauch was not necessarily the band's original drummer but assured he was someone everyone in the group liked. The late drummer was featured on the band's "Last Rites," its first demo released in 1984, which included three tracks.

However, he left them the same year, citing internal conflict, and was replaced by Gar Samuelson.

Rauch also performed with other bands, including Dark Angel and Wargod, following his time with Megadeth.
