Collaborations with music legends come as rare as one could possibly get. While partnering with someone as a revered artist like Mariah Carey is a huge feat in itself, some people, like for example, Kelly Clarkson, did not actually think she would be passing up the opportunity, until after she said it already.

Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson are one of the few songwriting giants in this generation, so it's no wonder they would link each other up for possibly a huge song.

Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey Collaboration

Talking to Las Culturistas, an iHeart Radio podcast hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, Clarkson surprised the two comedians by confessing how her supposed collaboration with Mariah Carey went up in flames after she inadvertently passed the opportunity to do so.

"I was bragging on her, and she was like, 'Well we should write together,'" she admitted, which prompted the duo to gasp in shock because of the insider story.

However, the story goes more interesting than the start.

"Exactly, exactly. But she said it and like ... this is honestly - I don't write in the same room as other people. I have done that twice in my life because I'm just not a vulnerable writer," she recalled telling Mariah Carey.

However, it wasn't until after a few moments that she left the room that she realized perhaps one of the biggest misses of her career.

"I start telling Mariah about my process and I'm like, 'Did I just...?' I walked away and they're like, 'Do you realize you just said no to Mariah Carey?' I was like, 'Wait, what?'" she went on to reflect.

The two have linked up previously when Mariah Carey appeared on "The Voice" as a mega-mentor in 2018.

Elsewhere in the interview, she went on to profess her love for Carey, saying that she was not as revered as how great a songwriter she is as much as she is a great vocalist.

Kelly Clarkson 'Chemistry'

Clarkson has been on a good press tour for quite a while as she promotes her new album, "Chemistry." She has appeared on various shows including "Watch What Happens With Andy Cohen," "The Howard Stern Show," and now on "Las Culturistas," to name a few.

Her album, "Chemistry" was released last Friday, Jun. 23, 2023.
