W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless underwent successful surgery to treat the injuries that had been affecting his capacity to perform.

Lawless sustained injuries amid W.A.S.P.'s European tour sharing the saddening news through the band's website. According to the singer, he had a herniated disc in his lower back that eventually led him to perform while seated for the remainder of their shows.

Blackie Lawless' Health Update

On Thursday, Lawless shared an update on Twitter revealing that he underwent successful surgery to treat his two herniated discs and a broken vertebra.

"I just got out of my back surgery earlier today and all is good, the surgery was a big success!" the singer wrote. "The Dr. said he was very pleased and the results were great. Now to get some rest. Thank you to everyone for all the support."

Blackie's injuries led to the cancelation of W.A.S.P's scheduled 2023 US tour and the moving of the show dates for spring 2024. When they announced the news, the frontman revealed that a second herniated disc and broken vertebrae were detected in his second MRI, requiring him to receive the procedure to correct the problem.

He previously worked with a team of doctors who eventually asked him to stop touring and return to Los Angeles to start his rehabilitation treatment. But as his back injuries became extensive, he needed a more effective treatment that involved an operation.

Blackie Lawless' Past Injuries

Prior to his back injuries, the W.A.S.P frontman already endured several health issues in the past, including an accident a decade ago during which he was left with a broken leg after he was tossed onto a pile of bricks from the back of a truck.

He revealed that the incident seemingly contributed to the herniated disc he experienced this year.

In 2006, W.A.S.P. announced the postponement of its then-European shows after the singer was diagnosed with an abnormality in one of the arteries leading to his heart.

"I have been extremely lucky to be able to avoid a problem that could have been potentially life-threatening years down the road if I hadn't been fortunate enough to be diagnosed early, thanks to that I have avoided a potential serious problem!" the singer continued.
