In a statement posted on her Instagram account on Saturday afternoon, Kelly Clarkson refuted accusations that she had disparaged Taylor Swift's romance with Travis Kelce.
On Friday's episode of her talk show, the 41-year-old artist seemed to criticize the Cardigan singer's relationship with the NFL player, and many of Swift's supporters took offense to her remarks.
The "Since U Been Gone" singer clarified her remarks in her statement, in which she said that she merely wanted to be able to watch football without interruptions due to her love life.
The singer recently addressed up about her decision to leave "The Voice."
In her opening paragraph, Clarkson stated that while she was shocked that her remarks made news, she was not amused by the backlash her apparent nasty words generated.
Just a quick public service announcement everybody since this seems to be breaking news...do not fall prey to clickbait, trash reporters twisting the facts again,' she wrote.
"I did not bash anyone's romance. I am pro romance. Yay romance. Did y'all even watch what I actually said on my show?," she added.
The singer said she "just said I want to watch football when I tune in to watch football. Seems an appropriate request."

It can be recalled that the composer compared Swift's connection with Kelce's media attention to that of a well-liked reality television program during Friday's installment of her show.
She said, according to Page Six, "It's not hilarious how it is literally taking over the NFL for people that like watching sports now. It's like you're watching "Housewives."'
"The performer added that the NFL's commentators were 'just talking about gossip things. And you're like, "So, what about the play?"," she added.
In addition, Clarkson claimed that the story regarding Swift and 34-year-old Kelce was "taking over" the football coverage. When various sources said that the Maroon singer and the professional football player were having a casual relationship in September of last year, the two were first connected.
Later, the Grammy Award-winning artist established herself as a regular at her boyfriend's sporting events, frequently seen with Donna. Following that, the couple was seen leaving their apartment in New York City earlier this month while holding hands. Swift and Kelce later made cameo appearances in Saturday Night Live's season opener, which aired last week.
