Earlier this month, USA Today hired their first-ever Taylor Swift journalist, a reporter dedicated to only writing about Taylor Swift like she is a whole news beat already.

Similarly, Beyoncé also gets the same treatment and the news organization finally named her!

However, one of her statements seemed to not sit well with the Beyhive, Beyoncé's dedicated legion of fans.

Who is USA Today's Beyoncé Journalist?

USA Today revealed their first ever Beyoncé journalist, a writer/reporter dedicated to only writing about Beyoncé - Caché McClay.

Graduating from Howard University in 2017, McClay became a writer for multiple newsrooms in the past including Hearts Television, TMZ, NBC News, and even BBC News.

Speaking about her qualifications, McClay said that she grew up in a Beyoncé household.

My mother and sister are fans," McClay added. "More than playing music, Beyoncé's impact has shown us the possibilities are endless."

According to The Tennessean Editor Michael Anastasi, McClay is "well prepared for this role, and her unique experience will further strengthen" their "extraordinary team of music journalists."

McClay will be writing all things about the Grammy-winning singer - her influence in music, fashion, entertainment, culture, and even economics.

"I'm excited to dive deeper into her evolution as a businesswoman and to be in Music City," she told USA Today. "There are so many different moving parts to her business."

Beyoncé Journalist Not Part Of Beyhive?

However, Caché McClay's recent statements didn't sit well with the Beyhive.

In a Rolling Stone interview, she had this to say: "I do want to make clear I'm a Beyoncé stan, but my point in saying that was mainly to maintain my integrity as a journalist. That's what this role is - to report on Beyoncé, but making sure that I am unbiased with certain issues or certain things."

Fans on social media were appalled with McClay for not being part of the BeyHive but still bagging the position.

"how is she covering on beyoncé when she's not even part of the beyhive?" a fan wondered.

"Or maybe she lied to them to get the job cause she really is Beyhive cause being a Stan and not in the hive does not make sense," another commented.

However, some fans understand why that is the case.

"people are upset but you literally have to realize that to be a journalist you have to be unbiased and being in the beyhive while being a Beyoncé reporter means you are gonna be biased," one shared.

"I like this actually. We'll get nuanced reporting from them about Bey," someone wrote.
