Shane MacGowan's wife shared several posts about their relationship before his death.

MacGowan and his wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, had been together for decades after their meeting when she was just 16 and he was 24. They started dating four years after that moment.

Two weeks before MacGowan's death, Clarke shared a poignant post to express her fears of losing someone.

Shane MacGowan's Wife Posted About Great Loss

On Instagram, Clarke uploaded a photo of herself kissing MacGowan while he was in his hospital bed. She wrote a lengthy caption in which she discussed her fears of loss and how love can be the most beautiful and most painful thing one can experience at the same time.

"The really really big challenge that we all face is to go beyond what our minds think are the limits of love and what love really is," she went on. "A lot of the time that thing we call love can more accurately be described as attachment or desire or need or longing or closeness or connection."

Clarke also shared a photo of the singer with a breathing apparatus before he was discharged over a week before his death.

The wife continued, "Stay tuned in to love no matter what is happening in your world and keep inviting all of your angels and guides to support you and know that love is always the best choice!"

MacGowan had always spoken about his wife proudly in his interviews. In 2021, he told VIP Magazine that he fell in love with his wife the moment he saw her. Although Clarke did not want him at first, they waited for four years until they finally had the spark.

Although Clarke stayed with him through thick and thick, his drug abuse reportedly led to his wife leaving him at one point.

According to the late singer, it was his biggest regret when he lost Clarke. So he did everything he could to get himself clean and get her back.
