Kelly claimed that Brandon mentioned that NBC had a strong inclination toward selecting someone like Rihanna as their preferred choice.
The reasons behind this preference, as stated by Brandon, were not limited to Rihanna's appeal as a sex symbol but also due to the network's aim to be representative of the black community. Brandon emphasized the importance of diversity in their selection process.
In Kelly's version of events, Brandon also commented on her resemblance to Blake Shelton, one of the coaches on "The Voice" at the time. In November of last year, the California labor commissioner made a ruling demanding the repayment of $2,641,374 from Brandon to Kelly. This order was the realization that Brandon had wrongly billed her for various services.
According to the labor commissioner's decision, Brandon acted beyond his role as Kelly's manager by securing work opportunities exclusively reserved for her agents. One notable example was his involvement in securing a performance slot on the popular music show "The Voice."
