Shakira is one of the most popular people in the world. With her impact in Latin music and in Hollywood, the "Whenever, Wherever" singer has attracted a lot of followers from everywhere on the planet.

With this much fame and following, it is especially difficult for celebrities to avoid stalkers.

Shakira Stalker Arrested

According to NBC Miami, one of Shakira's stalkers was arrested outside her home in Miami, Florida.

56-year-old Daniel John Valtier was arrested for one count of stalking. Valtier, in the past, has made a flurry of social media posts about the singer which Shakira's security manager had provided to the authorities.

Valtier, who like many men, dreamt of marrying the songstress, posted on his Instagram page about his plans to sire children with her, even naming their imaginary children.

"Kids adopt them when I am married too Shakira she wants too be American like her father, and share the rest of her life with me, we will own a trucking business sing songs promote manage and own a garment manufacturing corporation worldwide," one of Valtier's post read.

Shakira's security team has also received packages from Valtier, including wine, chocolates, and even toys. Despite being told to stop sending gifts and posting on social media about the rather odd behavior, the team was alarmed when they saw him post about going into Shakira's house.

This gave Shakira's team an advantage to intercept Valtier when he arrived at Shakira's home last Jan. 8, 2023. He was immediately taken into custody and was also charged for hiring a vehicle with the intent to defraud the taxi driver by not paying him.

Valtier was booked and appeared in court last Tuesday. Prosecutors are seeking a $50,000 bond for his release.

Stalker Claims He's Shakira's Husband

NBC Miami reported that Shakira's his "wife," and that he "speak[s] to her all the time."

"I have real concerns right now because this man is delusional saying she's his wife and that's not true. That is very concerning to the court," the judge said in a statement. "I'm very concerned. ... Then I have the same man in court making comments to me that suggest he believes that he has the right to be with this person and that is absolutely not true."

The judge even increased the bond to $100,000 because he felt like that would protect the community from the victim.

As of this writing, Shakira has not yet responded to the issue at hand or whether she was at the residence at the time of the arrest.
