The tracks just keep on coming from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. This time it is Lorde's collaboration with HAIM, Stromae, Pusha T and Q-Tip that has surfaced on the web, showcasing the dynamism that is on the soundtrack. The variety of artists on the song, HAIM, Pusha T, Q-Tip, Stromae and Lorde would normally make for an odd mix, but it works quite well. -
Lorde Talks Curating 'Hunger Games Mockingjay - Part 1' Soundtrack: "It's Been My Entire Life"
It's been about a year since Lorde first rose to superstardom. She's brought something to pop music that people have been longing for. Her wit, introspection, and reflections on youth have resonated with people all over the world. Rather than following up her debut, critically acclaimed album Pure Heroine with another LP, Lorde chose to take on a different type of project, curating the Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I soundtrack. -
Calvin Harris Hires Haim to Add Vocals on New Track Release "Pray to God"
The line between critical claim and alternative disdain is thing when it comes to electronic dance music, so hip kids were forced to debate the merits of music and their own conservative values (more conservative than you'd think) when Haim performed with Calvin Harris for the newly released track "Pray To God." -

For Better or Worse, Village Voice's Pazz+Jop Rank the Top Albums and Singles of 2013 [POLL]
While many argue the merits of the long-suffering publication as well as the results therein--hey, the lot of us feel the same way about the Grammys--the Voice's P+J issue (conceived of by disgraced music editor, Bob Xgau) is about as consensus as we're likely to get these days. -
Music Times' Top 10 Albums of 2013
As with any other group conversation between the writers of Music Times, the debate between what albums to include on the site's Top 10 of the year was less than professional. There was crying (Ryan Book), yelling (Nicole Oran), and even threats of violence (Caitlin Carter). Ultimately, after countless votes and demands for recounts, ten finalists were chosen. Check out the albums that we kept in the stereo throughout 2013, along with defenses from the staff writers that loved the most. -
Nicole Oran's 2013 Playlist: Jay Z, Daft Punk and Savages
Music Times, like so many other music publications, was looking to publish a "Best of 2013" playlist. We met to discuss what such a playlist should include, and that's where we ran into trouble. We couldn't agree. Sometimes two of us just couldn't agree on whether the performer was amazing or terrible, and even when we agreed they were amazing, we couldn't agree on what track was most representative of their work. Hence it was decided that rather than try to agree (a seemingly impossible endeavor), everyone would get their own "favorites of 2013" playlist. We won't argue that these are necessarily the best tracks of the last year, but they're definitely songs that caught our respective attention and caused us to hit 'repeat" over and over and over again. -
Caitlin Carter's Playlist of 2013: Eminem, Paul McCartney, and Rich Homie Quan

Disclosure and Chvrches Received Most Blog Mentions During 2013
If you roll your eyes at the term "blogosphere," at least acknowledge the truth the music world on the internet is vastly different from real-life music. The most telling example is Hype Machine's yearly 'Music Blog Zeitgeist,' which counts down the Top 50 performers based on how often they're mentioned in over 820 prominent music blogs. Hint: Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Eminem, Jay Z and Katy Perry didn't make the list. -
SPIN Releases Annual List of Best Albums...What Rapper Won?
SPIN Magazine, one of our most trusted sources for music across many genres, has released its annual list of the best 50 albums of the year. Yes, it's a bit early (not going to give Britney Spears a fair shot guys?), but we're sure they're just trying to beat the holiday rush (you'll be able to check out Music Times' albums of the year list on December 23, and our staffers' respective playlists of the year on December 16). The top album is something you've definitely heard of, but may still come as a surprise. -
