• 5 Active Underground Hip-Hop Supergroups That AREN'T Run The Jewels: Hail Mary Mallon, Deltron 3030 and More

The Run The Jewels craze has gotten out of hand. The gun-and-fist logo is showing up everywhere, from Instagram to the cover of Howard The Duck comics. Seriously though: Supergroups among underground hip-hop groups aren't a new thing. Run The Jewels just happens to be the one that has gotten everyone's attention at every magazine. Deservedly so. • Aesop Rock Releases 2-Track EP 'The Cat Food'

Aesop Rock is the latest to get a release out on the 2015 board with his new "Cat Food" EP. A quick two tracks, "Cat Food" and "Bug Zapper" further support the notion that quality is always better than quantity, as both tracks are polished and exciting creations from the Rhymesayers artist. The two songs were originally released as a 7-inch vinyl and are now available in a digital format via Rhymesayer's SoundCloud. The "Cat Food" EP is the first new solo material the artist has put out in some time, mainly focusing on making music for other artists. The tracks on "The Cat Food" EP are also available in an instrumental-only version, which most fans can always appreciate. November saw the release of Aesop's Hail Mary Mallon project with the album "Bestiary." Aesop Rock also was featured on Busdriver's "Ego Death" alongside Danny Brown. Aesop Rock produced "Bug Zapper" and called in the likes of Blockhead to produce "Cat Food."

Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic have been doing their thing under the Hail Mary Mallon moniker for a few years, and the duo will release their second album, "Bestiary," Nov. 14. AR is a slippery guy: He does not do many interviews. But Rob recently spoke with Potholes in My Blog about his sound: "I do sample, but never too much of one thing," Sonic said. "I do not loop things longer than a few seconds, outside of what I play on my own. I have things like melodies and bass lines already in my head. The samples [of other people] just help me get to that point. Kind of.
