Beijing, one of China's largest urban areas, has seen its host of music festivals across a number of genres drop as the authorities are making it almost impossible for large groups of people to gather for any reason. The cause for the cancellations isn't the usual paranoia from the government, but rather fear that potential disasters at such events could result in a black eye for the Central Government, which is located out of the city. Analysts have traced the crackdown to the New Year's event where 36 Shanghai citizens were killed in a stampede. President Xi Jinping ordered an investigation into culpability for the tragedy, and now no government official wants bad news coming to his desk. -

Virtuoso pianist Evgeny Kissin will be leading a special concert at Carnegie Hall entitled "With You, Armenia" in commemoration of the centennial of the Armenian genocide at the hands of the Ottoman Turks some 100 years ago. As Classicalite contributor James Inverne duly lets us know, the concert will juxtapose Armenian composers with works by Chopin and, surprise, will feature the world premiere of a newly composed work by Krzysztof Penderecki. The most intriguing track from Jamie xx's upcoming album In Colour has surfaced onto the web. It is not the complete version, but the Young Thug-assisted "I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)" has leaked. According to The Fader, the leak is not the final version that will appear on the album, which also features Popcaan. However what we have heard from the song in the leaked version, Jamie xx, real name Jamie Smith, starts things off with a well-selected soul sample and a laidback, summer beat filled with bells and soft percussion. -

Major Lazer Releases "Too Original" Ft. Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell From 'Peace Is The Mission'
Major Lazer continue to unveil new music from their upcoming album Peace Is The Mission, slated for release in three weeks on June 1. The trio of Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire has another big one on their hands in "Too Original" with the dancehall and Caribbean-influenced rhythms that have set this group apart from other electronic acts. The addition of Swedish singer and rapper Elliphant gives the track another edgy element to it. Jamaican singer / songwriter Jovi Rockwell brings the song right to the island as the two singers trade verses before letting Major Lazer take over with distorted and pitched synths in the drop. -
