• Taylor Swift Tops Album Sales Charts as Ne-Yo, Charlie Wilson and the Bethel Music Group Debut in Top 10

This week's Billboard 200 didn't reflect much in terms of new music but the Albums Chart has better news, introducing two new debut discs. Taylor Swift and 1989 are at the top again however, selling 71,000 copies. As we mentioned yesterday, that makes her only the second female performer to top the chart for at least 10 weeks with two different albums (the other being Whitney Houston). Also interesting: This week's stop at the top marks the first time since Lecrae's Anomaly during September that an album went to no. 1 with less than 100,000 in sales.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is this close to finally rolling into theaters just in time for Valentine's Day, and early indications are that it is going to have a pretty good opening weekend. As of right now, the film based on the hugely popular book series by E.L. James is on track to open at about $60 million. According to a report by "Variety," if it does that over four days, then the film will already be considered a profitable success.
  • Ben Weinman of Dillinger Escape Plan Talks Odd Time Signatures and Colombian Drug Cartels Before His Band's 2015 Debut at Rock on The Range

Dillinger Escape Plan isn't the most crowd-pleasing of options for the typical rock festival but they keep getting calls to perform, somewhat to the confusion of guitarist and founder Ben Weinman. He spoke to Music Times about writing music in 15/16, destroying both equipment and bodies on stage, and run ins with Colombian drug cartels in advance of his band appearing at Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio.
  • REVIEW: Wordless Music Orchestra, Lost Bayou Ramblers Make Magic with 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' Score at Symphony Space

The connection between music and the movies has been, for as long as film has been around, synchronous. Miraculous heights in filmmaking have been reached by scores that transcend the viewing experience. Not just watching, but being sucked into the story--the sounds of strings and banjos swirling in an effervescent cloud that floats through us. Beasts of the Southern Wild is that kind of film. Whether it is vivacious cajun music or a melancholic string melody, the score takes you on a journey through an unbelievable world, just out of reach from your own imagination
  • Nicki Minaj Talks "Feeling Myself" Collaboration With Beyoncé and Sending Positive Messages to Young Women

Nicki Minaj recruited some serious talent for her recent album "The Pinkprint." Meek Mill, Ariana Grande and Skylar Grey all make appearances, not to mention Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown all on one track. But the most notable collaboration came in the form of "Feeling Myself," which features one of pop's biggest stars: Beyoncé. The "Anaconda" rapper recently spoke to "Time" about teaming up with Queen Bey for the track and sending positive messages to young women.
  • The Kardashians Cancel All PR Ahead of Season 10 of 'KUWTK'

Well, this is truly a first. Absolutely no one from either the Kardashians or the Jenners will be doing any PR at all ahead of the premiere of Season 10 of KUWTK. They know that pretty much all questions asked would revolve around Bruce Jenner and his transformation, and the family claims they are leaving that kind of conversation to him. Plus, they would rather everyone tune in for the big reveal on their reality show and, let's face it, we probably all will.
  • Like Swimming "A Room Of Her Own" Photo Contest: Win T-Shirt & Copy Of New Album 'Structures'

Swedish trio Like Swimming just released their debut album Structures. Although the band members have been playing together in different forms for about nine years, Structures marks their first project under this new name. The band's sun-kissed sound mimics the varied motions of water. At times, the notes dive in and make a splash, other times they swirl around and build momentum; and then there are moments of peace, when the notes cut straight through the waves or when the water settles and silence takes over. In our latest feature, the band talks about their beginnings, songwriting process, live show, the difference between Swedish and American audiences, and more. Read all about them here.
  • Swedish Trio Like Swimming Makes A Splash With Debut Album 'Structures,' Premieres Video For "A Room of Her Own" [WATCH]

Like Swimming became a band two and a half years ago, but the three members, Carlström, Petter Wesslander (drums), and Ida Hedene (vocals/keys), have been playing together in "different constellations" for almost nine years. They were at a crossroads in their musical lives when they decided to venture outside of Stockholm to a cabin in the woods to brainstorm. From there, they sketched out potential new projects, and out of those discussions came Like Swimming.
