    The Roots really went for it this year with the annual holiday jam session, also known as the OkayPlayer's Annual Holiday Party at Brooklyn's Brooklyn Bowl. It marked the fifteenth anniversary of the OkayPlayer website, which Questlove helped to found, and the show delivered by offering appearances from Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon, beat-boxing mastermind Rhazel, and an unannounced appearance from Sufjan Stevens.

    Today, Of Monsters and Men released a new EP Live From Vatnagarðar exclusively on iTunes. The Icelandic quintet that made quite the impression with the full-length album My Head Is An Animal is now sharing live recordings of 7 songs played in Iceland's Syrland studio.

    James Blake has been slotted to take over one of the segments in BBC Radio 1's Residency series in January 2014. The series will feature one selected DJ to play a two-hour set each Thursday, and Blake (recent winner of the Mercury Prize) will be the artist taking the Jan. 23 spot right after a set from T Williams.

    After teasing the music video for days on her Twitter and Instagram, Britney Spears has finally released the music video for her second Britney Jean single "Perfume." The power-ballad, which is a shining light on the otherwise mediocre eighth studio album, got a fitting video tribute, full of crappy motels, crappy boyfriends and a beautiful Britney.
  • Avenged Sevenfold's music basis for animated show 'Hail To The King'

    This weekend we brought you the exciting news that rapper T.I. and his wife Tony would star in their own animated Christmas special during December. Well, rock band Avenged Sevenfold won't star in their own cartoon, but its album Hail To The King will be adapted into one. Hail To The King (the TV series) will consist of six episodes uploaded to Machinima.com-an animation and video game-based website-on December 15.

  • George Strait sells out Dallas Cowboys stadium in less than a day for final show

    George Strait managed to sell out his final concert in less than one day. "Big deal," say you, "tons of bands sell out venues in just one day of sales." The difference, of course, is that Strait sold out AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, which has seating capacity for more than 100,000. So it's about on par with selling out the 2014 Super Bowl in one day. Which happened, but the Super Bowl is about the paramount of American events, so Strait's final show could be considered a big deal.
