Similar to most of us who suffered during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor Swift also felt lonely back when everyone had no choice but to stay at home for their safety. More recently, the pop star reflected on her album "Folklore" which she wrote during quarantine.

According to Billboard, the singer, who is set to release her 11th studio album "The Tortured Poets Department" later this year, performed at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, over the weekend.

At one point of her show, the singer paused and recalled that she felt "lonely" when she wrote the album "Folklore" during the beginning of the pandemic.

"[I was] imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder," she told her thousands of fans before playing the track "Betty."

Taylor Swift Spent Quarantine With Joe Alwyn

The outlet noted that Taylor Swift spent her time in lockdown with her boyfriend at the time, actor Joe Alwyn.

The actor became an integral part of "Folklore" as he was credited as a songwriter for the songs "Betty" and "Exile."

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Swift said she didn't expect that she would create an album, but it all happened when she would watch a different movie every night and it inspired her.

"I feel like consuming other people's art and storytelling sort of opened this portal in my imagination," she said. The pop star then questioned herself why she never created characters and storylines in the form of an album.

Swift and Alwyn's relationship didn't last as they reportedly broke up last year after six years of dating.

Taylor Swift 'The Eras Tour' Melbourne

Taylor Swift just wrapped up her three-day concert at Melbourne Cricket Ground that began last Friday. Her Australian stop isn't over as she will perform at the Accor Stadium in Sydney from February 23 to 25, 2024.

Although fans enjoyed Swift's concert in the Australian city, not everyone was pleased that the musician visited their hometown.

Previous reports state that there were numerous football fans who stood outside of the venue just to boo the pop star.
