Cynthia Sthrother, popularly known for being the other half of the Singing Bell Sisters, has passed away at the age of 88; what was her cause of death?

Her nephew, Rex Strother, confirmed the tragic news to The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that she died due to heart failure. At the time of her death, she was staying at a hospice in Las Vegas.

According to Billboard, when she was younger, she teamed up with her younger sister Kay to establish the Bell Sisters which became popular in the 1950s thanks to their hit track "Bermuda."

They signed under the label RCA from 1951 to 1955 and took their popularity in different outlets of media like radio shows and television programs such as "The Johnny Carson Show," "The Mickey Mouse Club," and "The Colgate Comedy Hour."

In addition, Cynthia and Kay became movie stars as they were one of the cast members for the film "Cruisin' Down the River."

Who Was Cynthia Sthrother?

The outlet noted that Cynthia, who was born on October 4, 1935, in Harlan County, Kentucky, is the eldest among seven children.

Her family later moved to Seal Beach, California, where she and her siblings grew up.

When she was 16 years old, she wrote the song "Bermuda" using a piano. At the time, her sister was only 11 years old.

In a previous interview, Cynthia shared more about the meaning behind their hit track as she said: "I just got the idea and went through with it, until it was finished. Then we all got together to write the words. We got Indian ideas and a Spanish bullfighter idea. Then somebody said, 'Bermuda,' and we liked that."

How Did the Bell Sisters Become Famous?

In October 1951, the Bell Sisters appeared on a local show on KNXT-TV titled "Peter Potter's Search for a Song" where they performed "Bermuda."

One of the judges, who was a music publisher, was in awe and realized that the track had potential. Later on, Cynthia and Kay were taken into a recording studio in Hollywood to sing a demo for the track.

Since the release of their track, they became massive across the United States and it even came to a point when they performed for Nat King Cole as an opening act in Los Angeles.

They also performed around their home country and in Korea and they all did it while there was no school.
