Katy Perry narrowly avoided a major wardrobe malfunction during last night's episode of American Idol.

The "Teenage Dream" singer sported a metallic bra on Monday night's episode of the FOX singing competition. While deciding on the Top 14 of this season, Perry's top nearly fell off.

She took to social media to humorously share an inside look at the situation, where her stylist, Tatiana Waterford, had to jump out onto set during commercial break to fix the look.

"I need my top to stay on," she said as they tried to repair the back. "If it's not fixed, this show is gonna get more than it wanted."

The metallic quality of the top required a heavy-duty wrench to clamp the bra-of-steel back together. Fellow judge Luke Bryan attempted to help alleviate the situation, volunteering to go in and fix before quickly giving up.

Once the show was back on air, Perry had to hide her body under the desk in order to avoid any potential violations. When the time came for her to give her takes on contestant Roman Collins' rendition of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," Perry had a witty explanation for why she was hiding.

"That song broke my top off," she joked to Ryan Seacrest as she peeked her head up from under the table. "I guess it is a woman's world."

As Lionel Richie and Bryan joked that the wardrobe flub would be great for "ratings," Perry reminded them that "it's a family show." After the top had broken again, Perry used a white pillow to cover up her faulty costume until it was repaired.

Perry first showed off the Kate Barton top on her Instagram before the broadcast began. She teased that "if you see a shark you're left brained, if you see #idol tonight you're my bestie." The complete look included a floor-length black leather skirt.

The "Roar" songstress has made headlines with several of her other outfits recently, with a recent miniature accessory carrying a big secret about her upcoming sixth studio album.

While walking the red carpet at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony over the weekend, Perry held a tiny glass purse that held a scroll with "KP6: TOP SECRET" written on it. While the small piece of paper went untouched throughout the night, it clearly signaled that news about the long-awaited record is on the way.

The new album is slated to be the "Never Really Over" artist's first studio LP in four years. Her most recent drop, Smile, came out in 2020, just days before she gave birth to her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

Perry confirmed that new music was to be released in 2024 when she finished her Las Vegas PLAY residency by displaying "SEE YA NEXT YEAR!" on the screen when the final show concluded. There have been no official announcement regarding release dates, but Perry's recent red carpet appearances have fueled interest in her upcoming endeavors.
